Welsh Daffodil - Hiraeth

Hiraeth is a beautiful Welsh word, which best translates to a longing for home. For some, this may be a yearning to return to the hills and valleys of Wales, to the whisper of the mountains, the song of the sea, to their spiritual home.

As a Christian, hiraeth is our longing for our heavenly home. C.S. Lewis writes, “If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”

The apostle Paul writes, “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 3:20). As believers, it is wonderful to know the assurance of eternity with our Father, in our heavenly home.
